Desktop View
Double-tap the menu button on your controller while in VR to overlay your full Mac desktop inside the headset, then dismiss it instantly.MoltenVR's desktop view feature lets you see your Mac desktop as an overlay directly inside your headset. Double-tap the menu button on your controller to show the desktop, and double-tap again to dismiss it.
Activating Desktop View
Granting Screen Recording Permission
Desktop view captures your Mac screen and requires the Screen Recording permission. macOS will prompt you the first time you activate desktop view. If you need to grant or check the permission manually, follow these steps:
Open System Settings
Click the Apple menu and select System Settings.
Navigate to Privacy & Security
In the sidebar, click Privacy & Security.
Open Screen Recording
Scroll down and click Screen Recording.
Enable MoltenVR
Find MoltenVR in the list and toggle it on. If MoltenVR is not listed, launch it and attempt to activate desktop view — macOS will prompt you and add it to the list automatically.
Once permission is granted, desktop view is available every session without any further prompts.
