Launching Games
Automatically detect and launch Steam, BSManager, and itch.io VR games through MoltenVR with one-click patching from the Games screen.MoltenVR's Games screen automatically detects installed VR titles from your Steam, BSManager, and itch.io libraries. When you select a game, MoltenVR patches it with the correct OpenXR and OpenVR settings so it runs through MoltenVR's own OpenXR runtime — no manual configuration required.
Starting a Game
Start the stream
Open MoltenVR and press Start Stream to begin the streaming session from your Mac.
Put your headset on
Put on your headset and open the ALVR app on the headset to connect to the stream.
Select your game
Back on your Mac, open the Games screen in MoltenVR and click the game you want to launch. MoltenVR applies the correct patch automatically and starts the game.
SteamVR-Native Games and OpenComposite
Half-Life: Alyx
Half-Life: Alyx is fully playable through MoltenVR. It runs with DXVK rendering and OpenComposite translating SteamVR calls onto MoltenVR's OpenXR runtime, with full 6DoF tracking, controllers, and haptics all working.
Because OpenComposite has no SteamVR dashboard, there is no in-game controller rebinding UI. To change your controller bindings, edit the file directly:
game/hlvr/cfg/bindings_touch.json
Open that file in a text editor and modify the bindings as needed before launching.
Beat Saber and BSManager
Minecraft + Vivecraft
Minecraft with the Vivecraft mod runs fully native on macOS — no Wine required. Install Minecraft through Prism Launcher with the Vivecraft mod, and it will appear in the Games screen. This is the first working Mac Minecraft VR since SteamVR for Mac was discontinued in 2020.
